How to Become a Reseller of Lionel Trains
When watching and listening to a Lionel train, it is hard not to imagine you are riding along around the track. Lionel trains have been around for over 100 years, bringing joy to train hobbyists around the world. Though the trains may have gotten more advanced, with smoke animation and lifelike sounds, they still tap into your imagination and bring out your inner youth.
Review the requirements on the Lionel Train “Become a Dealer” page. Make sure you meet the requirements, including owning a clean, well-maintained retail store away from your home, having your business phone number listed in the “Hobbies” section of the local phone directory, and operating your business during normal hours for at least 40 hours per week.
Click the “contact us” button on the “Become a Dealer” page. This opens an email screen.
Type a message to the dealer department. Indicate that you are interested in becoming a Lionel Train dealer. Include your name, email address, telephone number and mailing address.
Expect a call from a Lionel Train representative within 48 hours. Be prepared to provide the answers stating you meet the requirements listed. The representative then sends you an email containing a copy of a Lionel dealer application, sales agreement, W-9 and ordering information.
Complete the application packet provided by Lionel Trains. Gather the completed application, a copy of your driver’s license or photo identification, a copy of your current business license, the completed W-9, and signed agreement, and mail to the address provided in the packet. The agreement states you must maintain Lionel products in an attractive manner; you must maintain a Lionel 0/027 gauge train layout in your store, and you cannot resell the trains to anyone other than consumers or other Lionel dealers who are authorized, as directed on the Lionel website.
Wait for an email indicating that your area can support a Lionel retailer based on the company’s determination. Log in to the “Dealer Login” page after receiving your logon name and password via email. From this page, place your order for Lionel trains and accessories.

Write down the name and telephone number of the Lionel representative who contacts you. Mail your packet with a return receipt requested to ensure it arrives. If you do not receive a response within 6 to 8 weeks, contact the Lionel representative for a status update.
