Preschool Teachers

Preschool teachers work with children 3 years old to 5 years old. Teachers must have the ability to plan a total course that emphases development of motor skills, social development, emotional development and language while introducing students to reading, writing, vocabulary, art, science and social studies. Many tools are available to accomplish these tasks such as games, music, drawing, books and computers. Education requirements vary from state to state but usually a high school diploma and college degree in child development or early childhood education are prerequisites. Meeting and Convention Planners

Meeting and convention planners coordinate all aspects of their respective events. Some of the organizational activities that need attention include lining up speakers or performers in addition to catering, finding a location and obtaining any equipment needed. Planners work with the group or organization to find out what works best while adhering to any budget constraints. A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business or management is not required but can be enormously helpful in finding employment and accomplishing the tasks. The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics lists the average median wages for meeting and convention planners in 2008 as $44,260.

Administrative Service Managers

Administrative service managers plan, coordinate and add direction to companies seeking ways to be more effective in the marketplace. For example, managers coordinate space needs, maintenance, operations, and obtaining property while staying within government regulations for safety standards. This career also allows occasional opportunities to work outside of a standard office setting. For example, visits to construction sites related to the specific company might be necessary. Each company has their own educational standards ranging from just a high school diploma to a bachelor’s degree with appropriate experience for the level of employment. As of 2008, the median annual wage for an administrative services manager is $73,520.

Public Relations Specialists

Public relations specialists build a bridge between companies and the public. The specialists handle organizational events such as meetings while working with the media, community members, special interest groups and the government. A bachelor’s degree in public relations is an added advantage for the career and some companies may consider it a requirement. The median annual wage for a public relations specialist, as listed by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2008, is $51,280.
