Texas residents who have successfully completed a food safety training program receive a Texas Food Handler's Permit. The organization through which you completed the training will issue you the permit by mail or in person. Or, you can print it out if you take and pass an online food handler's safety course. The permit serves as proof to employers that you have completed the course. If you misplace the permit, you can obtain another copy through the organization that granted it to you, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Contact the organization that issued the Texas Food Handler's Permit to you in order to obtain a copy, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. Calling the organization is the quickest way to get the information.

Ask the organization how you can obtain a copy of the food handler's permit.

Follow the provider's instructions, which may include going online and printing out another permit or waiting to have a new one mailed to you. For example, if you obtained your Texas Food Handler's Permit from an organization that offers online food handler's classes and permits, such as Texas Food Card, Safeway Certifications or Food Handler Classes, you can log in and print a copy of your Texas food handler's permit directly from the organization's website. There is no fee to reprint the permit. If the provider doesn't have an online printing option, you can request a copy of the Texas Food Handler's permit be mailed to you. There may or may not be a fee involved.
