Complete an approved insurance course covering life, health and variable annuities. This course must be at least 40 hours and must be approved by the state of Florida. Courses may be completed online, via correspondence with the University of Florida or via an accredited college course studying annuity insurance.

Complete the state licensing examination as required by the Florida Department of Financial Services. Your school will either administer this exam or assign a testing location.

Visit the Florida Department of Financial Services online and complete the appropriate application form for a 2-15 Life, Health and Variable Annuity Insurance License. Submit the appropriate fees.

Wait for the Florida Department of Financial Services to send you an official fingerprint card with instructions. Upon receipt, have your fingerprint card completed at an approved fingerprint site.

Submit a Letter of Clearance to the Florida Department of Financial Services if you were previously licensed in another state.
