How to Become a Firefighter in Montreal
If you live in Montreal, Canada, and want to be a firefighter, there are several things you'll need to keep in mind. Choosing to become a firefighter can be a difficult decision, but getting there doesn't have to be. Read on to find out more.
Join the volunteer fire fighters department in Montreal. It is a great way to gain experience and make sure you really want to be a firefighter.
Apply to the Academie des Pompiers in Quebec. It is the closest firefighting academy to Montreal. In order to be accepted into the academy, you must have a high school diploma and transcript of last grades, along with a number of other requirements that are listed on the website (see Resources below).
Graduate and apply for a job with the Montreal Fire Department. You may or may not be able to secure a job before you graduate. If you can't get a job in Montreal right away, you can always apply to some of the smaller cities around Montreal to gain further experience.
