Maintenance Administrator Job Description

Duties

A maintenance administrator orders supplies and equipment as needed and performs maintenance checks on a weekly or monthly basis. The administrator follows the maintenance department's safety rules and policies when performing his duties. Maintenance administrators also diagnose mechanical problems and find methods to correct them.

Skill Set, Tools and Technologies

To perform duties competently, a maintenance administrator must have manual dexterity, good vision and the ability to solve complex problems. Maintenance administrators might use drain or pipe cleaning equipment, cordless power drills, chain pullers, tube drain removers and industrial control software such as Digital Direct Control.

Academic Credentials and Compensation

Most maintenance administrators hold an associate degree in mechanical engineering, although employers often hire candidates who possess a high school diploma but have significant practical experience.
