Legal Ways to Make Money on the Internet

Growth Trends for Related Jobs

Many workers dream of making a living from the comfort of home, and the good news is that there are a number of legitimate ways to make money without the morning commute. The key to finding those legitimate work-at-home opportunities and avoiding scams is to focus on what you already do well and build your new career around it. Whether your goal is to earn a bit of extra spending money or replace your full-time income, there are a number of ways to earn money without every leaving your home.

Ebay Sales

One of the easiest ways to bring in some extra money while cleaning out some space in your home is to sell your unwanted items on eBay. The eBay marketplace (eBay.com) is home to sellers who specialize in every product imaginable, as well as those who are cleaning their closets and discarding items they no longer need.

Start your eBay career by signing up for a free eBay account, then start going through your home in search of items you no longer need. Take quality photographs of those items, write accurate descriptions, and start your auctions. You might be surprised at how much those unwanted treasures can fetch.

Freelance Writing

If you have a talent for writing and a flair for the English language, there are a number of freelance writing opportunities on the Internet. Sites like Demand Studios allow writers to sign up and write articles for up-front payment, while sites like Associated Content allow writers to collect residual income each time viewers click on their articles and their associated ads. Constant Content allows freelance writers to post their own original work and set their own prices, with webmasters visiting the site and buying the articles as the need arises (see Resources).

Writers should be aware that each site has its own application and approval process, and the best sites tend to be very selective about who they accept. But if you are a talented writer, you might be able to earn a very good income as a freelance writer.

Customer Service

If you have customer service experience you may qualify to ply your trade online. In some cases the company you currently work for may provide you with the opportunity to work at home, so be sure to check first with your human resources department. Then, if you want to create your own opportunity, check with companies like LiveOps.com and WorkingSol.com to apply. Keep in mind that you will have to complete a detailed application and pass a test to qualify for any customer service positions.
