A credit card agent is essentially the liaison between the consumers who are applying for the credit card and the companies issuing the credit cards. Credit card issuers pay credit card agents a commission on the number of credit card applications the agent is responsible for generating, or a percentage of the credit card approvals the agent is able to originate. It is relatively simple to become a credit card agent, but after you become one, you have the challenge of finding consumers to apply for the credit cards.

Choose the credit card companies you want to represent. Numerous credit card issuers are available so you can go straight to the issuers of credit cards to apply to become an agent, or you can go through a credit card affiliate program (see Resource section).

Complete and submit an online agent or affiliate application for each credit card program you are interested in representing. You generally have to submit information that includes your full name, Social Security number, website or blog address where you intend to promote the credit cards, and the number of monthly visitors to the site.

Once you receive approval to represent the credit cards, you can start to promote the credit cards through your own marketing channels. This typically includes adding information about the credit card to your website or blog and then driving targeted traffic to the website. The credit card issuer may also provide you with hard-copy marketing material, which you can use to promote the credit cards in person, such as when attending trade shows or when networking.
