How to Renew a Florida RN License

Growth Trends for Related Jobs

The Florida Department of Health Division of Medical Quality Assurance oversees license renewal for registered nurses. RNs with Florida licensing must renew their licenses every two years. The MQA mails renewal reminder postcards 90 days before your renewal is due. The postcard lists the cost of renewing, the deadline to renew and renewal procedures. You can renew your license online or by mail.

Login to the MQA Online Services website. The link is listed under "Resources". You will need your User ID and Password. These were mailed to you with your physical license.

Select "Registered Nurse" from the drop down menu on Line 1. Enter your user ID and password in the appropriate spaces. Click on "Sign in using our secure server."

Select either "renew online" or "print renewal notice".

Complete the printed renewal notice and mail it to:

Department of Health Division of Medical Quality Assurance P.O. Box 6320 Tallahassee, FL 32314-6320

If you are late renewing, you may have to pay a larger fee. Include a cashier's check or money order made payable to the "Department of Health" for the appropriate renewal amount.

Follow the instructions that appear on the computer screen if you are renewing your license online. Do not mail a copy of the notice.

Pay the renewal fee using American Express, VISA, MasterCard or Discover.

Tip

If you have any questions, contact Licensure Services at 850-488-0595 option 3, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET.

If you do not know your user ID and password, you will be required to answer a set of security questions to login.

Warning

The Florida Board of Nursing recommends you allow four to six weeks for processing, printing and mailing.
