How to Get a Copy of Your Cosmetologist License
If you have lost your cosmetologist license, get it replaced as soon as possible. The license proves you are authorized to practice your profession. In many states, the State Board of Cosmetology requires that licensees display the license in the work place. By submitting a simple form to your State Board, you can obtain a copy of your license so that you can get back to the business of making people beautiful.
Visit the online website for your State's Board of Cosmetology. For Washington, DC you will visit the "Department of Consumer & Regulatory Affairs" website. Links for these websites can be found in the "Resources" section at the end of this article.
Download the application to "Duplicate" your cosmetology license. Some states, such as Nevada, will request that you use their "Renewal" application to request a duplicate license. Some states will also allow you to submit an online application. Washington, D.C. does not have a website (See Resources).
Complete the duplicate or renewal application. Fill in all required information, including your license type, such as barber or nail technician.
Mail the application to the address specified in the application instructions or submit the application online, along with the appropriate fee.
