Searching for internship opportunities at hospitals and other health care facilities can often be a daunting task. To make matters even more difficult, certain hospitals will sometimes prefer to give internships to a recent graduate or current student finishing pre-med school or a nursing program. However, try not to get discouraged if you do not fall into that category. There are plenty of health care positions available if you simply work hard, make the appropriate social connections and fully apply yourself to finding the right internship for you.

Get good grades while in school. Help yourself find a job or internship later on by making connections with other pre-med and nursing students in college. These type of relationships can be very beneficial in the long run.

Go to your academic adviser and ask about internship opportunities at local area hospitals and medical centers. Even if you are no longer a student, you can still find information in career counseling centers regarding internships in the medical field.

Call or visit all hospitals and any other health care facilities in which you may be interested. Let them know you are interested in an internship and ask for an application. Many applications are now available online also.
