Growth Trends for Related Jobs
In an uncertain economy, one of the major goals of many new graduates is to obtain a job that has benefits and potential for growth. One possible way to obtain this goal is to apply for Army civilian jobs, also known as civil service jobs. Fortunately, it is easy to apply for civil service jobs online.
Searching for Jobs
The first thing you will need to do is to visit the USA Jobs website (see Reference 1, USA Jobs).
The site will then prompt you to search by job title, job location, or both. If a job is available in a variety of areas (including nationwide), it will still show up, even on searches for specific zip codes. Note that the advanced search can help you further narrow your search by pay, job series number, and job agency.
If you have not already done so, you must set up an account on the website. Once you have set up the account, you will be able to upload an electronic copy of your resume. You will also be able to specify if the resume is searchable by third-parties, which helps to increase the odds that you are hired for an Army civilian job. With the electronic resume uploaded to the site, you will also be able to apply to a number of positions.
When you have found a job you are interested in, be sure that you verify all of the necessary details. The initial Overview will let you see details such as salary and location. However, it is also important for you to examine the Duties, Qualifications, and Evaluations.
Duties are, simply put, what you will be expected to do in your day-to-day job. The Qualifications section is highly important, as it will specify whether the job requires certain security clearances, background skills, prior services in the armed forces, etc. Evaluations will let you know how your application and resume will be reviewed, and how a job determination is made.
After you have reviewed this information, the How to Apply section will help you apply. Almost all applications can be fully submitted online utilizing the online resume you have already completed. There are special instructions if you choose to fax or mail supplemental information. You will be provided with a phone number to contact regarding the position, and a rough hiring time frame under the What to Expect Next heading.
