Additional jobs will also open up as workers retire or leave the workforce for other reasons. However, experts go on to say that competition for all marketing manager jobs will be strong. Marketing positions attract professionals from a variety of professions, and there are simply more candidates than jobs.
According to a 2009 report from the BLS, half of all marketing managers earned an annual salary between $78,340 and $149,390. Assistant marketing manager salaries are likely at the bottom of the salary range because they are not as experienced as senior managers. Wages vary by location as well. BLS experts report that managers working in New York, New Jersey and California took home the most.

Sales managers earned a median annual salary of $117,960 in 2016, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. On the low end, sales managers earned a 25th percentile salary of $79,420, meaning 75 percent earned more than this amount. The 75th percentile salary is $168,300, meaning 25 percent earn more. In 2016, 385,500 people were employed in the U.S. as sales managers.
