The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that more than half of all photographers were self-employed in 2012, but many work for publications and broadcasters. Professional training, artistic ability and people skills are beneficial in this highly competitive field.

Graphic Designer

Desktop publishers use software such as Photoshop to create and edit graphics for books, magazines, greeting cards and other types of publications. Some employers prefer at least an associate degree, while others will hire applicants based on experience and talent. Desktop publishers must meet employers' or clients' desires and deadlines, so flexibility, time management, communication and organizational skills are all imperative for these positions.

Web Developer
