How to Find Pilot Car Jobs

Growth Trends for Related Jobs

A pilot car is the vehicle that escorts large, over-sized trucks and transports on the highways. To operate pilot, or escort, cars, first find out what requirements your state places on pilots. The rules and requirements vary greatly from state to state. Once you’ve got your vehicle and necessary flags or lights installed, the proper certifications and sufficient training, you are ready to find work. Find trainers through a number of schools and individual trainers that market their services online.

Market Your Services

Just like any small business owner, you need to get your name out in front of the companies and truck drivers of large loads that need your services. Sign up for free guild membership with organizations that make referrals such as Parker Pilot. Advertise your services and the area where you operate on sites such as 123 Leaderboard, Wide Load Shipping or Pilot Car Manager. On some of the sites, you may have to pay a monthly or yearly fee; others are free.
