If you want to be a security guard with Disney, you'll have the opportunity to work in one of many locations. Disney has amusement parks and resorts in Florida, California, Hawaii and even overseas. The application process for all its parks is similar and requires that you already have a guard card for your state.

Finding the Job

The easiest way to find a security guard job with Disney is by searching online. At the Disney Careers page, you can search for jobs at all their locations and filter by country or resort. At the bottom of the screen, type "security guard" into the keywords to find relevant jobs. Just typing "security" is also good, as some Disney jobs are for security officers rather than guards. However, if searching online isn't your thing, Disney periodically hosts job fairs in different locations. For example, Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea hold large-scale job fairs in Japan. At one fair, 2,000 people found part-time jobs.

Security Guard Card

Applicants with previous security or law enforcement experience have a leg up on the competition. No matter what Disney location you're applying to, you'll need a security guard card from your state. In Hawaii, for example, this requires eight hours of classwork. You must have a high school degree, not suffer any mental disorders and not have any convictions that affect your ability to be a guard. You must pass four hours of supervised training and a written test. In California, the requirements are similar. You must pass a criminal background check through the state and FBI, take 40 hours of classes and pass an exam. You also must get special permits to carry firearms, tear gas or batons.

Additional Job Requirements

In general, a Disney security guard must be at least 18, have a driver's license with no recent violations and he must be able to work various shifts, both day and night. You should be able to stand for several hours or more and lift heavy objects. Some requirements may differ by specific resort. For example, a security officer at a Disney resort in Hawaii needs computer proficiency and has a better chance at being hired if bilingual. A security guard in at Walt Disney Pictures in Burbank, California, must have great customer service skills, excellent writing skills, creative thinking and a team focus.

Interview Process

According to reviews on Glassdoor, the interview process after you turn in your application can take anywhere from a few days to several months. You may have two or three in-person interviews, sometimes a phone interview. One of your in-person interviews may be a panel interview if you're applying for a security management position. Your personality goes a long way to prove if you'd be right for a job with Disney. Reviewers said that the interviews tended to be relaxed and casual.

Reviewers on Glassdoor reported that most interviews for security positions were quite casual. Typical questions included why you want to work at Disney, your strengths and weaknesses, your background, how you would handle a complicated situation and what you think about working with people from different backgrounds. One reviewer reported a difficult question, where he was asked about a time that a choice he made took a turn for the worse.
