Production staff are professionals who work on a production line in a manufacturing environment and perform a variety of duties to ensure production goals are met for an organization.

Qualifications

Most employers require a high school diploma or GED for this occupation. Because of the work involved in a production line, manual dexterity as well as the ability to lift, push or pull heavy items may also be required.

Responsibilities

Production staff may perform one or several functions on a production line such as assembly or fabrication of parts and products, testing finished products, transporting materials and equipment to other areas or cleaning production areas. Because these occupations require continuously doing redundant tasks, most employers will rotate responsibilities to allow for cross-training and vary the work for the production staff.

Salary

Salary can vary for this occupation depending on the types of products being manufactured. In July 2010, CBSalary.com listed a national average salary of $31,437 per year for this occupation.
